Rosary Basics The rosary consists of five decades. These decades are sets of prayers which include one Our Father, one Glory Be, ten Hail Marys and one of twenty mysteries. The Our Father is our most important prayer as it was taught by Jesus to his disciples. The Glory Be gives glory to God the Father. The repetition of Hail Marys not only honors Mary but promotes a meditative state which is beneficial to opening the mind for contemplation upon the mysteries. The mysteries are key events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. Meditation focuses on Jesus’ Incarnation, ministry, Passion, Resurrection, and Ascension. Attention also is given to the descent of the Holy Spirit and the Assumption and Coronation of Mary in recognition of her special place as the mother of Jesus. The Rosary Prayer by Prayer is available in hardcover and paperback editions. 224 pages.
